Concussion Management Program

At GoodLife Physical Therapy, we are part of a multi-disciplinary team that is involved in the evaluation and treatment of children/adolescents and adults who have sustained a concussion. The patient is referred to us after having been evaluated by the appropriate medical physician.

Preseason Baseline Testing

We offer preseason baseline testing for individuals to determine their baseline Neuro-cognitive and Neuro-physical values. To make our testing a complete comprehensive examination, each individual also undergoes a musculoskeletal examination and visual-motor screening. Each of these areas can become impaired after an individual sustains a concussion. Baseline measurements are compared with post-concussion measurements to help determine the severity of the concussion and to help determine an appropriate return to play timeline. In addition, each individual receives important and valuable concussion education.

Post-Concussion Rehabilitation

Our program helps address the symptoms of headaches, dizziness, and neck pain. Moreover, we help restore balance, aerobic conditioning, strength, and flexibility through vestibular rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance retraining, and aerobic exercise. We carefully guide the individual through their recovery and prepare them for return to play. This program facilitates a medically supported “return-to-play” decision process.

Sports metrics ACL Prevention Program

1 in 100 high school and 1 in 10 collegiate female athletes suffer serious knee injuries every year. This 6 week program was designed to help athletes refine neuromuscular control of the lower limbs. GoodLife Physical Therapy has become a Certified Clinical Site for Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center’s nationally acclaimed Sports metrics program.

Pre-Participation Screening

Checking an athlete’s bones, muscles, and joints before their start a sport can help prevent injuries. Our therapist will screen the athlete to see whether they have any problems that might affect their safety, such as being strong on one side than the other side or having an old injury that has not fully healed. Based upon our findings we develop an individualized plan to help each athlete prepare for their sport.

Return to Sport Testing

Before returning back to sports after an injury, a therapist will ensure the athlete is fully ready. This test helps prevent new or repeat injuries. In addition, the test checks your strength, balance, movement, and how long you can remain active (endurance).
